Marriage Equality: Impact on Financial Aid

For some students, the Supreme Court ruling striking down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) will mean more financial aid; but for others, it will mean less.  Including same-sex spouses’ income in the federal need-analysis formula could reduce some students’ eligibility for aid, but counting a spouse and all of a couple’s children in the household could increase it.  The Chronicle of Higher Education presents a good explanation of the changes.
