Free College is Possible

We’re organizing to turn student debt into a thing of the past by making all Massachusetts public colleges tuition-free.

Our Campaigns

PHENOM (the Public Higher Education Network of Massachusetts) is fighting for four policies which will revolutionize Massachusetts higher ed:

  1. Tuition-free public higher education, which would guarantee a debt-free degree to all Massachusetts residents.
  2. A tax on private college endowments, which would raise taxes on Massachusetts’ richest universities to fully pay for free college.
  3. Comprehensive Financial Aid Reform, including a streamlined and user-friendly application website, a fair and timely appeals process, and informative advertising campaigns so that students make the most of financial aid opportunities.
  4. An improvement to Adjunct Faculty Working Conditions, which would give adjuncts the dignity and peace of mind they have long been denied as the overexploited backbone of our university teaching staff.
  5. Strengthening the right to freedom of expression on all college campuses through student governments’ and college administrations’ endorsement of the Chicago Principles.
