Fighting for Affordability at UMass Boston

photo 2.JPGWhen we think of college affordability, we usually think of tuition and fees.  Fees, in particular, have skyrocketed in Massachusetts and are among the highest in the country.  But there are other costs that drive students into yet another job or further into debt.  UMass Boston recently announced a major increase in the cost of parking — impacting students and workers alike.

In response, 5,000 students, staff and faculty (yes, 5,000 – a third of the campus community!) signed a petition in opposition, and 250 people helped deliver the signatures to the campus administration.
